Annapurna Base Camp Trek

Into the heart of the Annapurna Sanctuary

The Annapurna Base Camp trek takes you into the Annapurna Sanctuary — a natural amphitheater surrounded by Annapurna I (8,091m), Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, Machhapuchhre (Fishtail), and Gangapurna. The trail climbs from subtropical bamboo forest through rhododendron groves into the high alpine zone, ending at the base camp at 4,130m. It is a shorter alternative to the Circuit but equally dramatic in its mountain scenery.

Annapurna Base Camp Trek — Frequently Asked Questions

How does ABC compare to Everest Base Camp?
ABC is shorter (10 days vs 14), lower (4,130m vs 5,364m), cheaper ($800 vs $1,200), and arguably more dramatic — the Sanctuary amphitheater has walls of 7,000m+ peaks on all sides. EBC has the Everest name and higher altitude challenge. Many trekkers do ABC first and EBC later. Both are world-class experiences.
