Day-by-Day Itinerary
A detailed look at each day of your Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek adventure. Every itinerary is crafted to balance trekking, acclimatization, and cultural experiences.
Day 1: Pokhara to Nayapul — Trek to Tikhedhunga (1,540m)
Drive from Pokhara to Nayapul trailhead (1 hour). Trek through villages and rice terraces along the Modi Khola valley. Arrive at Tikhedhunga. Walking time: 3-4 hours.
Day 2: Tikhedhunga to Ghorepani (2,860m)
The biggest climb of the trek — 3,300 stone steps up to Ulleri (2,070m), then through beautiful oak and rhododendron forest to Ghorepani. In spring, the forest explodes with red, pink, and white rhododendrons. Walking time: 5-6 hours.
Day 3: Poon Hill Sunrise (3,210m) — Ghorepani to Tadapani (2,590m)
The highlight. Wake at 4:30 AM and climb 45 minutes to Poon Hill viewpoint. Watch the sunrise paint Dhaulagiri, Annapurna South, Annapurna I, Machhapuchhre, Manaslu, and dozens more peaks in gold and pink. Return for breakfast, then trek through forest to Tadapani. Walking time: 5-6 hours.
Day 4: Tadapani to Ghandruk (1,940m)
Descend through rhododendron and bamboo forest to Ghandruk — one of Nepal's most beautiful Gurung villages. Stone houses, slate roofs, mountain views. Visit the Gurung Museum and explore the village. Walking time: 3-4 hours.
Day 5: Ghandruk to Nayapul — Drive to Pokhara
Final descent through terraced farmland to Nayapul. Drive back to Pokhara by lunch. Afternoon free for lakeside relaxation or Pokhara sightseeing. Walking time: 3-4 hours.
